With the passing of September come the end of the IronPAX challenge.  While many confused PAX celebrated this fact, YHC and some of the other Golden Strippers were sad to see it go, loving the feeling of going up to, and sometimes passing, the limit.  This led to an idea: Create an AO where the workouts are always that level of intensity.  Although met with scoffs and refusals from most, a few brave HIM said “Hell yes” and stepped up to the challenge of starting an AO where a PAX could come knowing they would receive the M.O.A.B every week.  And so, like a phoenix form the Ashes, The Tankyard was brought out of hibernation, looking to unleash fury on any PAX who stepped in.

We started things off with the most hated workout of Golden Strip: The Board of Pain

Warm Up:

SSH x 20 IC

IW x 20 IC

Arm Stretches

Windmills x 10 IC

Through the Tunnel x 10 IC

Warm up mosey the long way around the part to the baseball fields, about 0.5 miles

The Thang:

The Board of Pain: Complete the reps of each exercise on the list, with a lap in between each exercise.  Timer is set for 43 minutes, do as much as you can in this time.  The results:

Burpees – 100
Calf Raises – 150
Ski Abs – 100
Merkins – 100
Deep Squats – 100
LBCs – 200
Carolina Dry Docks – 100 – Clapper (80)
Russian Twists – 100 – Mrs. Potts (0)
Mahktar N’ Diayes – 100 – Mac (0), Road Trip (0), Zebco (13), Beamer (53)
Jump Squats – 100
Mountain Climbers – 100
Sholder Raises – 200
Mary Catherines – 100
Hello Dollys – 200
Wide arm Merkins – 100
Squat Jacks – 100
Peter Parkers – 100
Burpees – 100

Great work by all the PAX, and thanks to showing up knowing a beatdown was coming.

A quick note from YHC: The Board is often hated and publicly disowned, but I think the hate comes out of a misunderstanding.  This is a You v. You exercise; you’re not competing against the other PAX at the workout, but yourself.  When the B.O.P. is brought out again, you’ll know where you finished last time and have a target to try and beat.  If you get halfway through the board: Great! push hard and go further next time.  If you only get through the first set: Great! push hard and go further next time.  The Board will show If you aren’t accelerating week to week, and gives you a metric to measure it by.  You may be able to hide your effort and not push in a normal bootcamp, but when its just you and the Board there’s nowhere to hide, your effort will show.  Keep pushing, stay accelerating, and come out stronger next time to dominate the Board.  Its a difficult but rewarding experience, and I would encourage everyone to come try it twice (you’ll hate it the first time, but love going further the second time)

It was an honor to lead, SYITG
