Nine Pax decided to get faster at the Eastside HS track Wednesday. With the Drifter down, there was a lot of talk about getting ready for other #CSAUP events this year, one of those being BRR. Snowden and Footloose came out to start their training early and seemed to enjoy the pain. With winter almost over, I have a feeling Beastside is going to blow up in the coming months as the weather warms up. If you’ve never been to Beastside, or just haven’t been in a while, come on out and join us… In the words of the prophet Slim: “To run fast, you have to run fast…”
1 mile warm up
5 x Yasso 800’s
400 mosey between 800’s
1 mile cool down
I tried to explain that the Yasso 800 is when you run 800s in minutes, which correlates to your marathon time in hours. (ie. 3h30m marathon = 3m30s 800). I think that this is actually able to predict your marathon time if you are currently in marathon training (ie. Domer Simpson). Otherwise, it’s just wishful thinking. So I encouraged the Pax to try and pick an 800m time and beat that 5 times if they could. It proved to be an effective workout for all who participated.
Also, halfway through the workout, we were ambushed by two shady characters: THE Hardhat and THE Floppy. Apparently they had run all the way from The Gate in order to try and be included in two workouts in the same morning. I think they did half of a Yasso and then hit the road.
