The Crucible returned for a week to Cleveland Park. See the map here. Due to my general ineptitude, there was some question whether we would be doing only 1 burpee at the appropriate location on the map. To clarify for the simple-minded, all exercises were done at ten reps, and the loop was about 1.15 miles. First lap together, then AMRAP.
I am generally torn by my love for the Crucible and my need to do some hill work. Today we satisfied both. We got in nearly 5 miles and 500 feet of elevation gain in about 50 min.
Amoeba takes the VT.
I considered today a success, as GCOD told me during the Crucible that he hated me. Merlot was close.
The Crucible drives every thought/feeling out of my body except for pain. Sometimes my mind wanders during bootcamp/running, and there are conversations to be had. Not here. My level of consciousness sinks down to some level that I get once a week only. Only my animal brain works. Survival is key. Hence, the simple workout.
If I had been athletic when I was younger, Amoeba and Gristle would remind me of what it was like to be young and athletic.
The Cruce is great because it is terrible. Each week needs to be worse than the next.
We did not play in the river. I will not voluntarily subject myself to MRSA.
Read your email. Attend the Jackalope, and commit to help with an expansion. There is plenty of work to go around.
Top this one, gents.
I’m not sure this was worse than GCOD’s burpees at the base of Mount Mordecai but it was great fun. On the other hand, the only thing good about the out-and-back was the excitement of a PAX encounter. I think #outofthegate is too tougher for Amoeba but maybe some of you others should try it this Wednesday.
