8 faithful PAX decided to remove themselves from their nice warm fartsacks and come battle the hydra on a nice brisk Tuesday morning. I had been waiting to bring the Hyrda back to the PAX and with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. starting back tonight, it seemed like a good time to do it.

Warm Up
Smurf Jacks x 15 IC
Crab roll x 10
Carolina dry dock x 10 IC

Mosey down to the pond for:

The Hydra Thang

The Hydra, for those that don’t know, is a modified version of “The Beast”, no not the new-fangled body weight beast. In the beast you run a loop and stop three times to complete 6 reps of an exercise. Then run around the loop to slay the beast. Since this beast happens to be a Hydra, and for every head that is removed from a Hydra two grow back in its place, we’re in for some fun. The beast was lurking in the murky waters of the pond waiting to rear it’s ugly heads.

Run around the pond and stop and 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 marks for each exercise. Then lap back around to slay the beast.

Round 1
6 Burpees
6 Diamond Merkins
6 Jackie Chans (Fingetrip merkins)
Plank up
Lap around the pond.

Round 2
12 Hand release merkins
12 Shoulder touch merkins
12 Derkins
Plank Up, right / left arm high
Lap around the pond.

You would think we would learn our lesson and stop cutting the heads off these things; nope. On to round 3.

Round 3
24 Perfect squats
24 Little Baby Squat Jumps
24 LBC
Plank up, Southern Gentleman / Northern Aggressor

Blue Hawaii didn’t think laps were enough and shouted out “Indian Run!”. YHC thought that was a marvelous idea, so Indian Run it is on the narrow pathway around the pond while trying not to run into any boulders or topple into the pond. Those Hydra tentacles are tough to avoid.

Round 4
48 Freddie Mercury
48 SSH
48 Butt Kicks
Plank Up, Down on the bows
Indian Run around the pond

Round 5
96 Flutter kicks double-count
96 Russian Twist SC
96 Air presses SC
Plank up, recover

Professor Plum encourages the group and suggests we get two times through the Indian Run this time. Way to push hard gents.

That’s 558 reps total. I see a 6th round of Hydra coming next time.

15 minutes left, mosey from the pond to the park entrance via Cannon St. Wall sit for 1 minute across from the entrance, then do 20 dips on the ledges at the entrance.

Mosey back to the circle for Mary.

YHC decides to let each member of the PAX call out an exercise.
Rerun – Rosalitas x 10 IC
Footloose – 10 single leg Erectors on each leg OYO
Blue Hawaii – 10 Tony Hortons each arm (In plank position, reach up with one arm then down across body and touch opposite shoulder)
iTunes – 10 Hagglers OYO
Bib – Oblique LBCs – 5 each side due to time constraints
Biofreeze – 30 double-count mountain climbers
Professor Plum – Had to leave early, but thanks for coming out!

Thanks everyone for coming out and crushing it. I think I may need to make it harder next time to keep up with these PAX. Always a pleasure. Doing my best at geeking everyone out. Just need some more FNGs so I can name them after Harry Potter, Simpsons, or other geek lore.
