4 faithful started off their weekend by enjoying some fitness and fellowship w/ the pax. These guys are staunch #DawnPatrol regulars, and it really is a great start to a relaxing Saturday. #EarnYourNap
The Conditions: Less than pleasant. 39 degrees Fahrenheit (277 Kelvins), 93% humidity, slightly wet feeling, a little drizzly.
The Thang: YHC was 2 minutes late so the pax of 3 got started by doing imperial walkers, merkins and side straddle hops. YHC shows up, and pax of 4 completed the following:
Indian Run south on Rocky Slope Road to the 2nd raised-brick intersection (Shadwell St).
Squats x30 (OYO)
Merkins, ring of fire style (plank in a circle, one man does one merkin at a time, when he completes it, the pax to his right goes, and so on) x10
Indian Run back north on Rocky Slope Rd. Turn left into the neighborhood. Wrong turn. YHC is instantly lost. It’s dark and scary. Mr. Winslow calmed my fears and led us to relative safety at the corner of Bolton Dr/Legacy Park Rd/Hollingsworth Drive where we did:
Merkin ROF x10
Go to the down position and push up only when its your turn, otherwise stay down for Merkin ROF x10
Mosey to the bottom of 1D’s hill:
Merkin ROF x10
Diamond Merkin ROF x5
Mosey to the bottom of the steps next to the pond.
11’s on the steps, dips/lunges (double-count)
Partner up, catch me if you can around the pond. Partner A does 5 burpees, Partner B lungewalks, Partner A catches up and they flapjack. One lap around.
Up the stairs to the grassy hill.
11’s with merkins/high knee jumps (YHC nearly lost control of his bowels)
Indian Run to SF.
6MOM led by Earthmover
Backscratchers x30
Dying Cockroach x15
Hello Dolly x15
COT/BOM
Ye Olde Moleskine:
Great work from the pax today. Always good to see #DawnPatrol regulars, and as annoying as they are, it’s good to shake hands with the #Legacy crew while they are warming up to do their thang. We also see the #SpearHead guys walking around, carrying heavy stuff, and rolling in the sand. #DifferentBreed. The point being, it is fun to see other pax around Legacy Park on Saturday mornings.
Really nice work on the Indian Run. It’s obvious that it is not Earthmover or Mr. Winslow’s favorite exercise, but they did not complain at all. It’s not just physical fitness, its mental fortitude as well. Thanks for being humble and fighting through the pain yall. YHC was inspired.
If you’ve never come to #DawnPatrol or #Legacy, make it a point to do so. Legacy Park is a seriously great venue. YHC is a nerd when it comes to design, and this park was extremely well-done with many subtleties.
Lost in Hollingsworth is a reference to Neil Diamond’s timeless classic, “Lost in Hollywood”. For all those who guessed correctly, give yourselves a pat on the back. Thanks Dad (F3 Nails – Columbia) for owning Mr. Diamond’s seminal classic (or worst album) Headed for the Future when YHC was a boy. It contained such instant classics as the title track, “Lost in Hollywood”, “Stand up for Love” and “I’ll See You on the Radio (Laura)”.
Announcements: Mud Run is 4/11/15. Sign up. There will be F3 pax from everywhere: Charlotte, Columbia, Charleston, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Wilmington, Spartanburg, Sumter, Tallahassee…
This Saturday is the 2-year anniversary convergence at 0700 at Legacy Park. No other workouts are happening that day.
The following Saturday is the Drifter 6k at Conestee Nature Park at 0900. All workouts are on. There will be opportunities for doubling and tripling down.
