Andy Dufresne: [in letter to Red] Remember Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
The SF was firmly planted and 8 great men (1 FNG) got after it.
The Conditions: Gloomy. 72 degrees Fahrenheit, clear, 100% humidity.
The Thang: Wait for HC Satisfry to show up, take off north on Waccamaw, left on Westminster, right on Augusta Drive, right on Augusta Street, stop at Westminster Presbyterian parking lot.
Plank-o-rama
5 burpees, 10 merkins, 20 Russian twists
Keep going down Augusta to St. Michael’s Lutheran.
5 burpees, 6 merkins (or “head-bobbers” according to Ice), 15…no 20…Russian twists
Continue on Augusta to Trinity UMC
5 burpees, 5 merkins, 20 Russian twists
Continue on Augusta to the plaza at the corner of Blythe Drive.
20 dips
Left (east) on Riverside Drive, left on Byrd Blvd, stop at the gates to the Greenville Country Club.
Brief pep talk about the Byrd hill…YHC channeled his inner Coach Eric Taylor…not sure if it worked (“This WILL be the hardest thing you do today. Stay focused.”) All I needed as a Clear Eyes Full Hearts….
Up the hill, head back down the hill to get the 6.
Mosey back as a group (mostly) to the SF. 5 burpees.

Ye Olde Moleskine:
Late night texts between myself and Satisfry finally convinced our good buddy Lee Kiser to give this F3 thing a try. Last night YHC told him that posting was up to him, but that if he showed up it would just be a bonus for us. He interpreted that to mean that Satisfry and myself would actually receive some kind of tangible bonus from F3. So here I am to claim my bonus, F3.
He also mentioned that he was “being gang raped” with text messages to come post, so he got a prison name (Dufresne). And he now has some homework to watch Shawshank Redemption.
In all honesty, he’s light years further along than me at my first post (Ring Run, September 2013. I was a good 2 minutes behind everyone). He’s D1: former offensive guard for the Presbyterian College Blue Hose, and as he noted, this was not “an O-line workout”. They don’t get easier, you get stronger. Welcome Dufresne, hope you’re not “one and done”.
Iceman brought the mumbleheat as usual. YHC was noticeably runner-high and o2 deprived, and he took full advantage.
Good crew out there, reminds me of being at Cheers, if Sam and Norm did burpees and sweated all over each other.
Not sure who the War Baby was…maybe Dufresne at 27? Mr. Winslow is also 27.
Total mileage was 2.98, not including any backtracking, shenanigans, tomfoolery or lolly-gagging.
