Back to F3 Swamp Rabbit’s Most Criminally Underattended AO for YHC. Seriously, how does #LionsDen not have 20 PAX every time? It boggles the mind, honestly. So much to play with, and so little time in a 45 minute workout. I can’t wait for a Saturday session here to kick off so we can really stretch our legs to the outer reaches of Cleveland Park.
Anyway, @Dollywood’s done an outstanding job putting a core of PAX together in a short amount of time. If you typically post to any of the Downtown (ish) sites (Early Thang, Main Thang, Gate, Tank Yard), swing on by the Den sometime. Better yet, tell some of your 05er buddies to join you. It’s a blast.
9 Manimals circled up in some cool but humid Gloom to start the day off right
Warmup
SSH x 25 IC
IW x 25 IC
MC x 25 IC
Thang
Mosey to the big picnic shelter on the other side of the playground. Break into two groups
11s: BiatchBenches and Box Jumps
Group 1 starts with 10 BiatchBenches and Group 2 with 10 Boxjumps to stagger guys off of the picnic tables
(What’s a BiatchBench, you ask? Something like this, but between to picnic tables using the benches as the platform for your hands. Hat tip to the Guvnah for introducing this at Tank Yard a couple weeks ago, and no, that’s not Nature Boy in that video)
Plankup till everybody (namely YHC who did a superb job of self-smoking in this workout) gets done.
Mosey over to the swing sets. Keep two groups.
Tabata Swerkins and Box Jumps
25 second intervals and flapjack for 6 rounds.
(Yes, YHC #selfsmoked on this one as well, and was not helped by the old Timex timer giving us a single quiet beep at the end of each 25 seconds instead of a full alarm. #TechFail)
Also of note, you’ll see the number 25 pop up several times in this BB. That was a very, very feeble attempt by YHC to honor Jon Eytchison, roster number 025 and the sole finisher of this weekend’s GORUCK Selection Class 015. Read all about it here.
Mosey over to the Vietnam Memorial and circle up.
Jack the Ripper (at Caviar’s request)
1 diamond merkin / 4 LBCs IC up to 5 DMs / 20 LBCs and back down the pyramid.
Looks like this one’s becoming a crowd favorite. Hard as hell, but satisfying.
Mosey across the street to the grassy wall
Ark Ladder
Bear crawl up / burpee at the top / Jameis down. Repeato ascending to 7 burpees
At this point, the Lion’s Den earned a secondary name. The second time back down the hill, Scuba Steve calmly called out “snake” in a tone that could best be described as non-chalant. Scuba then calmly kicks a black snake off the hill and away into the street just after having stomped on it with his hand during the trip down. He then oh-so-calmly continued the workout. He’s obviously taken the GORUCK Rules to heart, and all that SERE training must have been a help. That said, had the same thing happened to YHC, our reaction would have been something more along the lines of this.
Anyway, Snake Pit’s a pretty cool name as well. Even if it creeps the hell out of me…
Mosey back to the flag for Mary

See you in the Gloom
Agree with everything you said about this AO. This is a great place to workout.
