YHC had been eating too much of his daughter’s birthday cake over the weekend, so to make up for it I took the Q at Night Ops. I have wanted to try out the D.O.D since the first time I read about it and I figured I would just do it. What followed was a self inflicted beatdown that I will not soon forget!
Deck Of Death went down like this- normal deck of cards including 2 Jokers. Each suit is an exercise and each card dictates the number of reps you do of that exercise all the way up to an Ace being 14 reps. Exercise complete when all 54 cards have been flipped. We flipped 6 cards per round, and there were 9 rounds total. After each round, run around the picnic shelter with your paving stones.
Diamonds= Dips. Clubs = Merkins. Hearts = Paver Presses (overhead press with paving stones). Spades = Derkins. Jokers = 15 burpees.
Round 1: 12 Derkins / 6 Merkins / 8 Merkins / 11 Merkins / 12 Dips / 11 Dips. Run with pavers.
Round 2: 6 Paver Presses / 6 Dips / 7 Derkins / 8 Dips / 12 Merkins / 5 Dips. Run with pavers.
Round 3: 3 Paver Presses / 13 Merkins / 9 Dips / 5 Merkins / 9 Merkins / 2 Merkins. Run with Pavers.
Round 4: 8 Paver Presses / 3 Derkins / 14 Derkins / 3 Merkins / 13 Paver Presses / 2 Derkins. Run with pavers.
Round 5: 7 Merkins / 6 Derkins / 14 Paver Presses / 14 Dips / 9 Paver Presses / 7 Paver Presses. Run with pavers.
Round 6: 12 Paver Presses / 2 Dips / 15 Burpees / 15 Burpees / 2 Paver Presses / 4 Derkins. Lots of mumblechatter about YHC’s shuffling abilities here. Run with pavers.
Round 7: 13 Dips / 7 Dips / 8 Derkins / 10 Merkins / 14 Merkins / 10 Paver Presses. Run with pavers.
Round 8: 11 Derkins / 4 Paver Presses / 10 Derkins / 3 Dips / 5 Paver Presses / 4 Merkins. Run with pavers. Seal and I did an extra 11 Derkins this round because we started out of order.
Round 9: 5 Derkins / 10 Dips / 11 Paver Presses / 9 Derkins / 4 Dips / 13 Derkins. Run with pavers.
Somehow we had 15 minutes left. Time for a run…without the pavers. Ran out 9 minutes with one stop for 20 step ups (10 per leg) and a 25 yard walking lunge. Ran back to the flag with a final jailbreak instigated by Seal.
